Rosehip oil, nature's answer to anti aging skincare

April 14, 2021

While some ingredients in skincare enjoy a high profile (hyaluronic acid or retinol anyone?), rosehip oil is often overlooked. The reality is that this amazing natural, organic oil is packed with active ingredients that are proven to have a huge impact on anti ageing and skin health. Read on to discover why we think rosehip oil is the underated addition that can pack a powerful health and beauty punch!

Where does rosehip oil come from?

Rosehip oil is obtained from the rose bush. Unlike rose oil, that's distilled from rose petals, rosehip oil comes from the seeds and fruit of the bush. These parts of the rose plant are crushed, allowing the oil to be extracted. A powerful blend of vitamins and essential fatty acids, it's particularly high in Vitamin C, E and A. With it’s respected history of use as a beauty aid, the oil has also been traditionally employed as a tonic and dietary supplement due to its high nutritional value.

What benefits can rosehip oil bring to skin?

Rosehip oil has been credited with offering a range of different advantages when used in skin care. Some of these include:

- Reducing the appearance of dark spots and other unsightly blemishes.

- Helping to hydrate and moisturise the skin. The high concentration of fatty acids helps to strengthen cell walls, trapping moisture in the skin. The oil also moisturises by increasing the oil content of desiccated skin cells. This makes it perfect for treating itchy, dry, red or inflamed skin, as well as maintaining healthy skin.

- Some of the vitamins which it contains can help to protect the skin from the damaging effects of sunlight.

- Reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The combination of fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants in rosehip oil makes it a powerful anti-ageing weapon! Studies have shown that the visibility of wrinkles is noticeably reduced with the use of rosehip oil.

Anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative and crammed with skin-friendly active ingredients, it's little wonder that rosehip oil is such a popular and effective addition to any skincare routine. It's the only serum that I use everyday.

Self care - Clean it up!
Self care - Clean it up!

July 07, 2021

When I say clean it up, I don’t mean your language, just your surroundings. This might be pretty self explanatory to some of you, but I know there a few people who might need a reminder. As well as cleaning unwanted dust (which is 75% dead skin cells ew), bacteria and germs, and just plain old rubbish. Cleaning your house is proven to lift your mood as well. You don’t have to do it all at once, but here are a few things to tackle when you get some time. Aim for one per day off. I’ve been doing this over the last few weeks and it’s really helping me enjoy my space and my belongings more.
