Make informed decisions by knowing the facts behind your skincare choices.
With Summer coming to an end (sad face) and a change in humidity, now is the time we should be paying a little extra attention to our skincare routine. The warmer seasons tend to spoil our skin with extra humidity, making it naturally more moisturised. But when the seasons change and the cooler weather hits, the air turns drier and so does our skin! We’re more likely to experience dryness and flakiness on your skin, especially if you're prone to eczema or other dry skin conditions.
Put simply: Our skin likes consistency, so when factors change quickly, it's like a shock to the system. It's not the temperature alone that causes these skin woes, either. Coupled with lifestyle changes people make as it gets cooler, such as taking hot showers and switching our air con to heating, that contributes to extra dryness and inflammation.
RECYCLE – PROPERLY! We all have recycling bins at our houses, the thing is that most of us aren’t using them properly. Firstly, NEVER put a plastic bag in your recycling bin. It pretty much renders everything else you’ve sorted redundant. Secondly, make sure you take the caps and rings off plastic bottles (and always cut the rings so they don’t get stuck on some poor unassuming animal). The plastic used for bottle caps is not recyclable, so make sure you put them in the rubbish.
For first blog for the year and I wanted to keep it fun and summer themed. As the weather has shockingly been turning it on here in Newy over the last week (La Niña who???), indoor activities are out and sunshine, and outdoor fun and in!
However as much as we try our hardest to SLIP, SLOP, SLAP! We can never be too careful with our skin, especially here in Australia with that bloody great big hole in the ozone layer.
Enter Vitamin E.

We traditionally know vitamin E as a treatment for scars, skin discolourations and anti-aging but did you know that it helps prevent and heal sunburn? Here are some Vitamin E tidbits to solidify why it really is the queen of ‘must have’ skin care ingredients.
